Yumminess in Yellowstone
By Carolyn Scott-Hamilton,
I was so fortunate to go to a lifelong bucket list destination, Yellowstone National Park. Spanning across 3 states, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming, the sheer majesty and sprawl of this park is breathtaking. Having driven across 3/4 of the park, I witnessed such a vast array of terrains from forest to dessert, canyon to massive lakes and all in between. Not to mention the beautiful animals that inhabit Yellowstone like the all American Buffalo, elk, bears and bunnies! It’s impossible to drive through without stopping every few minutes to hop out for a look see!
Yellowstone really is a must for travelers, adventure seekers and families as it has something for everyone. The beauty of the landscape, even as you enter the park from any side (I entered from Grand Tetons National Park, OMG!) is awe inspiring and you want to spend so much time gawking at all of it.
And of course, adventure and travel can work up an appetite so here’s where to go when in and around Yellowstone!
The Old Faithful Lodge is not only stunning but they have a few dining options that offer some goodies to special diet diners! The Old Faithful Dining Hall is so cool and beautiful and on top of it they have a yummy black bean, kale and quinoa salad! Plus they have more grub type food like veggie burgers and sweet tater fries! If you are going more casual, try the deli as they have veggie wraps, quick salads and snacks clearly marked as vegan and/or gluten free. Yay!
If you are up in the Montana side of Yellowstone, check out the Mammoth Springs Lodge. Their dining room also has some tasty morsels for weary travelers like vegetarian and gluten free chili, Tuscan bean soup, black bean burgers, vietnamese spring rolls and a tasty Mediterranean sampler plate!
In the summer, the Roosevelt Lodge hosts a suer fun Old West Cookout but be sure to let them know in advance of dietary restrictions so they can accommodate! The same goes for the Grant Village Lodge as it too is only a summer lodge and they boast 2 dining rooms with great options.
Of course, depending on where you come in from be it Idaho, Wyoming or Montana, you’ve got all sort of options just outside the park. I’ll be writing about Idaho Falls Idaho, Jackson Wyoming and Cody Montana as well as West yellowstone options next!
So no matter what time of year, Yellowstone is amazing so get ready for an incredible adventure!
