Your Weekly Overview April 11th – April 17th:

Set your system software to swoon mode! Cosmic lovebirds Mars and Venus are dancing in perfect harmony this week—and could win the Mirrorball trophy for their moves. This Tuesday, April 12 the two planets will form a perfect fire trine, an auspicious 120-degree angle that helps them blend their energies brilliantly. Venus is in Aries, while Mars is in Sagittarius, both creative, daring and intrepid fire signs that are totally compatible with each other. Bold moves will be rewarded, both romantically and creatively! Use the early half of the week to have the confessional conversation about feelings, surprise your sweetie with an adventurous plan, or even cop to a longstanding crush. Singles should mingle with open minds and hearts. Sagittarius rules cross-cultural and long-distance connections so don’t get caught up in the hype of a “type.”

Timing is everything, and the timing IS right near Tuesday, as this formation doesn’t happen too often. The last Mars-Venus trine was in July 2014, so flip back to that month if you want some clues about what might transpire. There is, however, a sequel to Tuesday’s Mars-Venus trine, which will occur on July 6 (in water signs), so we’ll get a second hit of magic beams this summer. The fires we light this week could be stoked further midsummer. Light it up and see where love takes you!

On Sunday, April 17 Mars changes directions, backing into retrograde mode until June 29. Mars retrogrades happen every other year and can create crossed wires and “power outages” in Mars-ruled areas of life: our drive, motivation, lust, assertiveness, and initiative. This is NOT the time to take uncalculated risks or play the daredevil role. It’s easy to overlook hidden dangers so read the rulebooks and remember than an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Practice anger management, too! Firebrand Mars in retrograde can cause tempers to flare unnecessarily; it can also boost sex drives, so easy does it with the spring flings because knowing who we’re getting in bed with—literally and figuratively, personally and in business—is a matter deserving extra precaution. Mars rules metals and heavy machinery, making this a less-than-optimal time for such purchases, at least without a guarantee and warranty. For the first seven weeks, the red planet will retreat through fiery Sagittarius; then, on May 27 will plunge back through Scorpio’s murky waters until turning direct on June 29.

Careful about detonating any truth bombs between now and late May because not only will this burn bridges but could blow ’em up for good. On a positive note, Mars retrograde gives us a chance to pause, reflect, review and refine all our ambitious 2016 plans. Where are we working too autonomously and putting the cart before the horse? While Mars spurs our independent natures, it isn’t always best to go it alone. Bring in the big guns and seek expert advice, and by July we could leap into a new league.
