Your Weekly Horoscope by The Astro Twins
Your Weekly Overview May 1st – May 7th
Taurus Season is in full swing and that practical magic is great for getting any job done. But as we sort and file to new levels of efficiency—and move towards a minimalist ethos—we risk scrubbing away the creative spirit. Fear not: The muse will put her statement-soled foot down this Tuesday, May 2 thanks to a balancing quarter moon in Leo. These glamorous, theatrical moonbeams remind us that a well-placed bell or whistle is what saves our efforts from becoming blase. Where might you add a little more sparkle and sunshine to the equation to make everything stand out? But quarter moons aren’t a time for excess. This lunar leveling will wag a bejeweled finger at anything tacky or ostentatious. Take a tip from Leo style maven Coco Chanel who advised women to remove one accessory before walking out the door. Apply that broadly—delete an adjective, make your point succinctly and leave the club before the bartender kicks you out. Making a well-timed exit is as important as the entrance this week!
The quarter moon can also bring a romantic revival for the lonely hearts out there—or anyone who still hasn’t caught on that Venus flipped out of retrograde, like two weeks ago, on April 15. If your mojo’s been in slow-mo, book a massage (Leo rules the back) and have a dance party in your living room. Moving your body is a surefire way to start your engines—and make sure to check yourself out in the mirror while you do. With mane-obsessed Leo helming this lunar operative, think about giving your hair a little spring update. Cutting bangs, brightening the color or adding a few layers for movement could be the perfect, modest lift this quarter moon calls for. Or, just toy with temporary touches. Think: glittery beauty products and peacock eyes in the spirit of Gemini makeup artist Pat McGrath.
And if you’re going to take the shears to your locks, maybe wait until Wednesday. That’s when expressive Mercury wakes up from a three-week retrograde that began in Taurus on April 9, and scooted back into Aries on April 20. The world has seen more than its fair share of insanely bullheaded behavior (those United Airlines passenger removal policies) and warmongering machismo (MOAB droppings and North Korean missile parades). The messages of these moves were pure Mercury retrograde WTF in flavor—and we wish we’d never witnessed them. But this backspin gave us yet another peek behind the curtain of Humans Behaving Badly. This $#^% is real and it’s not exactly new. But we, as a species, CAN do better than that. As Mercury pivots into a positive flow—and powers through Aries until May 16—we have a chance to rewrite those unworkable scripts. Transmute that anger into activism—and please, rise up from your armchair and Twitter feed. The IRL world could use your actual participation.
And yes, the coast is clearing for the standard Mercury retrograde tasks: shopping for gadgets and a new set of wheels, signing contracts, getting tattoos, deciding whether or not your love interest is undateable…you know. But the full shadow of Mercury doesn’t clear until May 22. Move ahead at a gentle clip and give your good senses a chance to resume.
