Your Weekly Overview January 2nd – January 8th:

Instead of diving in, how about a dreamy drift into 2017? This Tuesday, January 3 pleasure-seeking Venus floats into Pisces until February 3, activating our artistic and esoteric urges. While we all have places to go and people to see, slowing down a little doesn’t mean we’ll lose momentum. Enchanted Venus in Pisces invites us to turn our daily routines into rituals. For example, start your mornings with a little journaling and meditation instead of just going from coffeepot to computer. This fantasy-fueled phase will be doubly strong since Venus’ copilot Mars is also in Pisces until January 28. Early Valentine’s Day anyway? Cupid could wing in on an earlier flight in 2017—and January is the month to surrender to his charms and get swept away. But DO take off those rose-colored glasses every now and again. The downside of this planetary pairing is that it can make us a bit too gullible. Pisces is the master of illusions—and while this might work well for, say, composing romantic poetry, it can be dodgy in the current “post truth” political climate. Run the background searches and check those facts before you fall head over heels for someone who isn’t exactly “available,” or incite panic amongst your peeps by posting fake news on your Facebook feed.

Another reason to be an information hawk? Mercury will remain retrograde for much of the week before pivoting into direct motion again on Sunday the 8th. And on Wednesday the 4th, the messenger planet slips back from mission-oriented Capricorn into outspoken Sagittarius. Talk about a “post-truth” dilemma (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Post-truth_politics)! The line between fact and fiction could feel nearly nonexistent this week. If conversations get confusing, don’t get sucked into a debate. The best thing to do is pull back, get centered, and use the highly intuitive energy of Mars and Venus in Pisces to connect to your own inner wisdom. Wherever possible, hold off on making any binding decisions or signing contracts until greater clarity resumes after Sunday. If you can’t beg people off for that long, read the fine print with a magnifying glass and don’t be afraid to negotiate! With Mercury in reverse, we should all take a little extra time with our resolutions. Are we setting impossible benchmarks? Falling prey to perfectionism? Put more soul into your goals. You can still get results without sacrificing emotional and spiritual rewards.

And if that wasn’t enough reason to dream with one eye open, on Saturday, the illuminating Sun makes its annual connection to shadowy Pluto. Battle of the egos, anyone? Power struggles might erupt over the weekend—and we could get a glimpse of people’s control issues…or our own! If Darth Vader appears on the scene, use the force to pull yourself away instead of getting drawn into drama. There’s nothing light and fluffy about this transit; in fact, the Sun’s bright beams may reveal some secrets that have been locked away in the chamber. Got something to confess? Don’t wait for the local busybody to out you. Even if it’s scary to own up to your mistakes, it’s better that the story come straight from YOU than be churned up by a spin doctor. On a positive note, the Sun-Pluto conjunction can prompt some deep and soulful awakenings. Treat Saturday like a one-day retreat to reflect upon and release any lingering grief from 2016.
