Your Weekly Horoscope by The Astro Twins
Your Weekly Overview December 26th – January 1st:
Feeling a little sore from biting your tongue over the holidays? That pledge to NOT talk politics during the Christmas tree or menorah lighting may have been a tough one for many to keep this 2016. But on Monday, we can all unleash. Heck, it might not even feel like an option—the floodgates will just open, as outspoken Jupiter in justice-minded Libra locks into an exact opposition with radical Uranus in hotheaded Aries. This activist-evoking aspect hasn’t happened in 14 years—but it sure seems timely. While view points may be fiery and unformed early this week, we’ll have a chance to refine them into something more salient in 2017, as Jupiter and Uranus will oppose each other two more times next year, on March 3 and September 28. Bear in mind that Mercury is retrograde until January 8 before unleashing a round of expletives about the state of the world. This could damn near lead to fisticuffs under such combustible skies. But don’t keep quiet out of fear. Just consider where to direct your efforts. Fighting with delusional people is probably a waste of time, while learning the right political channels for making change would be a powerful endeavor to undertake. And if you simply need to rant, go blow off steam with likeminded friends who can hold an empathetic space for all that you have to get off your chest.
On Thursday, the new moon in Capricorn gives us a head start on our resolution making. This lunation puts progress and productivity high on our agendas. But are those goals ambitious enough? This new moon wants us to challenge ourselves. That’s what keeps the mission interesting, right? And it’s not just about winning the shiny gold star here, either. With alchemical Pluto and Mercury retrograde also in Capricorn, we need to set soul goals—ones that satisfy our deepest desires while bringing material rewards. Radical Uranus snaps out of a five-month retrograde the very same day, encouraging us to dream outside of the box. What new techniques—and technologies—can be embraced to bring our 2017 visions to life? And can we embroider any conscious directives into our plans? Capricorn is the elder of the three earth signs, so the influence of the new moon nudges us to conserve natural resources and adopt environmentally-friendly processes as we build our empires.
New Year’s Eve arrives with a bizarre cosmic mashup. Energizer Mars and dreamy Neptune will meet at the same degree of soulful, escapist Pisces this December 31, which could be delightful and dodgy at the same time. If you have tickets to a live show or DJ set, the Mars-Neptune merger will be sublime. Lose yourself in a reverie of music and dance, which are both Piscean passions. But go easy on those passed flutes of champagne because this transit will NOT be helpful with boundary-setting. Mars and Neptune are planets prone to excess, and in “no limits” Pisces, it’s best to just say no to anything that feels dangerous or too far out of your comfort zone. For many, NYE could drive up some serious emotions. 2016 has been such an insane year, historically speaking, and a loud, thumping party might feel like too much. If so, retreat into nature (especially near water) with friends—that rustic Airbnb by the rushing river might be the perfect place to find your center. If you live in a city, see if any yoga studios are offering a candlelight class or meditation; or, host a vision-boarding party for a group of close friends. Communing soulfully is another great way to release the year—but don’t be surprised if a living room dance party erupts when the clock strikes twelve. On Sunday, the social Aquarius moon dances into an exciting trine (120-degree angle) with visionary Jupiter in Libra. Gather with friends for brunch and share your wishes and hopes for 2017. Both Aquarius and Libra are energies that promote activism and social justice: Along with career and love goals, maybe it’s time to make another category on that resolution sheet called, “Causes to Rally Behind.”
