Happy, uh, Codependence Day? This Monday, July 4 the annual new moon in Cancer beams its nurturing, maternal energy down on the world. Warm-fuzzy vibing could be more prevalent than flagrant firework displays. (And woe betide the odd daredevil who starts lighting off Roman candles without reading the safety precautions! A swift relegation to the time out chair will be forthcoming.) La luna is definitely serving some family-style fun though—whether you share DNA or consider close friends your de facto relatives.

If you’re celebrating July Fourth, spend it with your nearest and dearest. Cozy, intimate Cancer energy reminds us to appreciate the people in our inner circles, especially if we’ve been taking their unwavering support for granted lately. But careful not to “smother mother” anyone in the process. If you’ve forgotten where your shell ends and theirs begins, lean into the boundary-hound side of Cancer energy and put clearer lines and privacy policies in place. Women are the star players of this new moon as Cancer governs the feminine realm. Spark connections with intriguing ladies or turn a solo project into a sister act. And how are things back at base? With our nesting instincts activated by the new moon, making home feel like a sanctuary is a must. If you’re ready to pull up the stakes, this domestic new moon could reveal a dream listing or inspire a remodel or decorating spree.

On Wednesday the 6th, cosmic lovebirds Venus and Mars flow into a swoonworthy trine, an auspicious 120-degree angle that helps them blend their energies brilliantly. Both planets are in intimacy-loving water signs—Venus is in nurturing Cancer while Mars is simmering in seductive Scorpio—which makes this one a particularly potent heart opener. (Not to mention those buttons and zippers, too…) Schedule Wednesday for any couer-a-couers or confessions of true romance. The topic of feelings will flow with ease and minimal awkwardness—and stand a good chance of nudging things in a positive direction.

But don’t be surprised if the magic moment you have on Wednesday is met with a bit of resistance one day later. On Thursday, “don’t fence me in” Uranus in Aries will throw shade at Venus, locking into a tense 90-degree angle called a square. What seemed like a done deal on hump day—plans to move in together, meet the parents or make your FWB vibes into something more monogamous and official—could almost go up in smoke on Thursday. Keep. Your. Cool. Combustible Uranus is like a rebellious teen with PMS, so don’t take anyone’s pulling back personally. A few days later, everything could settle back into place again. Put the “how about we” topic on ice temporarily and just let these bold suggestions settle in.

With the Sun in private, possessive Cancer opposing subterranean Pluto in Capricorn on Thursday, too, it will also be hard to get a clear read on people’s intentions. This celestial smackdown ratchets up our trust issues—and not without good reason. There could be some serious hidden agendas, ulterior motives and manipulative moves going down in the second half of the week. But that doesn’t mean we have to treat people like prime suspects; just be more discerning about what you reveal. On a positive note the Sun-Pluto opposition can set off some seriously sexy sparks. There’s a thin line between love and hate! Near Thursday, it could snap, leading to one of the hottest hookups of, well, the entire summer! While this might fall more in the “It’s Complicated” terrain, a passionate exchange could bring a page-turning moment in our personal love stories. But easy now! If this could lead to obsessing or the destruction of a stable bond, run (don’t walk!) in the other direction.
