Your Weekly Horoscope
[September 14 – September 20]
Illusions, delusions and magic carpet rides, oh my! This week, we’ll swing between reality checks and rocking the rose-colored glasses. Optimistic Jupiter will sit directly across from hazy Neptune, with the two planets making a rare, exact opposition on Thursday, September 17. Their duet can bring discord, making it hard to see ourselves or others in the truest light. Try not to deify or demonize people. This planetary pairing could bring a wakeup call to be our own gurus. And how much is too much? As Oscar Wilde quipped, “I can resist everything except temptation.” With Jupiter in pragmatic Virgo and Neptune in fanciful Pisces, we’ll need more rules and boundaries this week. This is not the time to compromise our ethics or values to please a persuasive soul!
Thursday is a major day for two other reasons-in fact, there will be so much happening this particular “Thor’s Day” that we could really feel like our molecules are being reordered in thunderous proportions. (Pun intended.) Try to take it easy near that day. It’s fine to pause from productivity and go get a massage or pedicure just to stay grounded!
First off, Mercury will turn retrograde from Thursday until October 9, backspinning through Libra, the sign of partnerships and the law. Finding harmony in relationships will be no easy task during this three-week cycle. From business partnerships to love affairs there will be some rocky terrain to trek through. But don’t sweep issues under the rug. Mercury retrograde forces buried problems to the surface so that we can discuss them and hopefully find win-win compromises. Is that a text (or a sext) from an ex? This retrograde could bring back old flames in record numbers. Alas, hindsight is NOT 20/20 when Mercury is in reverse. While we may miss the good old days, we could develop temporary amnesia, forgetting why things came to an unceremonious end. Unless it was TRULY bad timing that broke things up, don’t go Googlestalking your old ex for the next three weeks, or suggesting a meetup to see if it’s possible to be “just friends.” Uh, yeah right. Contract negotiations could get snarly, too. As the saying goes, “He who represents himself in court has a fool for a client.” Sorry Judge Judy, but we’re recommending that negotiations-even the friendly kind-incorporate a lawyer between now and October 9.
Now for the truly epic news of the week: This Thursday, September 17, structured Saturn heads back into Sagittarius-the sign of globalism, education, and cross-cultural relationships-until December 19, 2017. The ringed taskmaster planet will be parked in Sag until December 19, 2017 resetting the dials of the cultural landscape. Since October 6, 2012 Saturn was stirring the pot in Scorpio, the sign that governs sexuality and matters of life-and-death intensity. Saturn in Scorpio has NOT been a light and fluffy phase for the world (ISIS, Ebola, police brutality? Eek!) We’ve charted the political landscape of Saturn in Scorpio here (http://astrostyle.com/sex-3-0-how-saturn-in-scorpio-changed-the-way-we-love-lust/), a fascinating timeline of developments indeed. Saturn briefly moved into Sagittarius this year-from December 23, 2014 until June 14, 2015-then scooted back into Scorpio for a three-month encore (you know, just in case you didn’t get those lessons about sex, drugs and rock-and-roll embedded all the way into your psyche). Yikes! Has the summer been intense for you, too? We’d bet money on it.
Although Saturn gets a bad rap, it can also be a solid ally. Like an unyielding drill sergeant or celebrity personal trainer, Saturn’s lessons can make us stronger, faster, and built to last. The tough part? Saturn requires us to be honest about our weak spots and tackle them head on. Since it’s human nature to want to appear like we have it all together, resisting the messy (and humbling) part of the process is why Saturn’s teachings can feel so harsh. With Saturn heading into candid Sagittarius, it’s time to speak our truth-even if that means sticking our necks out and risking unfavorable responses. With Saturn’s internal voyage through Scorpio for the past three years, we’ve all done our share of soul searching. In Socratic Sagittarius, Saturn helps us vocalize all those deep thoughts. Gadflies of the world unite! On the flipside, we will also learn some big lessons about listening-often a missing link in the communication equation. Cautious Saturn may tame our outspokenness, too, so that we can hear other people’s ideas instead of aggressively asserting our own. Saturn cycles come along approximately every twenty-eight years. The last time he visited the Archer’s domain was from November 18, 1985 to November 12, 1988. If you were alive and kicking back then, you may see echoes of those themes. And if you were born during those years, welcome to your Saturn return!
Saturn in Sagittarius will upgrade the industries it governs: publishing, education, global trade. As self-publishing tools become more ubiquitous and user-friendly, the bigger print houses may have to change their practices to woo authors, perhaps giving them more of a cut of the sales. With major bookstores downsizing, libraries and independent chains could have a second coming, or we may pluck our favorite print titles from hybrid stores: books at the wine bar, anyone? The sky’s the limit! We predict some major changes to the public school system and university tuition structures so that more people have access to great education. Sagittarius is a fire sign and some hotheaded leaders could step onto the world stage. We’ll have to be careful not to fall for the impassioned and charismatic demagogues for the coming three years. New nations could rise up as forces to be reckoned with-but Saturn may also insist upon stricter regulations for commerce so that the International Billionaires Club doesn’t keep pricing locals out of their own homes and contracts. Entrepreneurial Saturn in Sagittarius can pave the way for independent contractors and business owners to establish themselves as forces to be reckoned with. Cross-cultural relations will continue to evolve as a hot topic in the media with Saturn calling for new policies and practices that make this world safe for all.
