Stay Present: The Key to Loving with No Regrets

Contribute and receive abundance until your final breath, living and loving with no regrets.

by Lisa L. Payne

I have been reminded lately that life is short. While I don’t know how many days I have left on this earth, I do know that I intend to live it full out, loving as much as I can, and regretting nothing that has brought me to this place.  The confidence to live a life that excites me has not come easy, I’m afraid. It is born of hard knocks and tough lessons, but it is my journey, unique to me, and it is own that I now cherish because of the peace and wisdom I could not have cultivated without having experienced all that I have.

Does it mean that I no longer struggle, face challenges, or have bad days? No. I am human. Just because you wear the hat that says “coach” doesn’t mean that you know it all or that you’ve got it all together every day. We are all the same, just in different places along our journey. This past year has held tremendous transformation for me, personally and professionally and I have found myself asking the same questions I hear from my clients: When your world has been rocked by significant change and you struggle to make sense of it all, how do you move forward with grace? How do you find the confidence to create a new life?

I believe the answer is to live firmly in the present moment, with a full heart of gratitude. A sobering practice to straighten you up is to think of your own eulogy. As morbid as that sounds, it works really well as a reality check. What would you like others to say about you at the end of your life on earth? If the world ends tomorrow, how would you feel about the life that you have created?

There was a point about 9 months ago that an important part of my life changed unexpected. This blow shook my world and I found myself hosting a grand pity party lamenting over my lack of success in one particular area of my life. And then – as I have trained myself – I snapped out of the fog of regret and anxiety and I changed my perspective. I thought about all that I have and all that I am and realized that if the world ends tomorrow, I have no regrets.

I have created a life that excites me. I have known utter bliss and wild abandon. I have been disciplined and achieved many things in my personal and professional life. I have made good choices. I have loved with all my heart. I have also made poor choices. I have hurt and I have been hurt. I have really LIVED and through it all I have learned gratitude and humility. I have raised two amazing children.

In my 43 years, I have achieved almost everything I have set out to do and those things yet to come fill my dreams in such as way that I feel I have already been there. So, while I feel blessed and successful, I have faith that today is full of unlimited possibility and that excites me to no end. I plan to contribute and receive abundance until I take my final breath, living and loving with no regrets. This is my wish for you.

When you find yourself facing a particularly difficult decision or obstacle, when someone suddenly ends a relationship with you, when you unexpectedly get a large bill in the mail, focus on the present moment. In the here and now, there is no place for regrets from the past or worry about the future. Cultivate a heart of gratitude by regularly counting your blessings. Connect with your purpose. Reignite your passion. Appreciate that every day is full of possibility. Excite Your Life!

If you do struggle with regret over the past or anxiety about what the future holds, please know that you hold the power to create the life you are living. You are invited to connect with me and explore the three coaching programs that may be your ticket to finding peace in this life time. It is Your Time For a Fresh Start.

Yours in possibility,

Lisa
