It’s time to bloom!
Not that long ago I decided to make a little survey about what women struggle the most with, as being an empowerment coach, I am really passionate about this.
Well, guess what I found? That there are so many wonderful women walking on this planet; they are pretty, smart, and full of potential… except they don’t know it.
Actually, not only they often feel like they’re not good enough, they’re also convinced, that thinking well of themselves is kind of cocky. And so they rather keep it down, hold themselves back, and feel confused about the real meaning of life.
Let me tell you a beautiful Indian story I came across not long ago. A pupil came to his teacher and asked,
“Master, there are so many things I would like to experience and achieve! But am I not too daring? As who am I to be so shameless to think, that all the life wonders are waiting here for me?”
The teacher looked back at the young student and replied, “Can you see this flower, son? Can you see how tall and pretty it stands? How it blossoms, turning around the sun? How it spreads happiness by its very beauty and perfection?”
“Do you think it ever asks God for permission to grow to its full potential? Do you think it ever doubts itself? It does not. Because the flower knows, that it comes from God and that its only purpose is to shine bright and to be perfect; that is what it was made for. You, my son, are just like the flower. You are also a child of God. So go now and celebrate Him by becoming the best version of yourself.”
Isn’t that the coolest story ever?:-)
Now, think for example, about all the young people who are desperately looking for jobs today (maybe you’re there yourself or you have a child that is exactly in the same position)… Often times, they feel like they don’t have anything to offer or that their dream job doesn’t exist anyways. So they give up on their dreams, compromise, and struggle to get by… But what if that is actually the whole problem is about; the struggle?
We constantly fight with something. We keep going in the against, instead of the towards direction. We try to fit in the box someone else has come up with and inevitably, we feel like we’re conforming to someone or something all the time. What more, we’re convinced this cannot be changed; these are the rules and that’s it! As a result, we resign, we abandon our dreams and instead of growing tall just like the flower, we hide in the corner.
And just so you know, that I’m not just trying to be the smarty pants in here :-), I want to tell you, that I was there too! Coming back to my home Czech Republic from UK where I studied my masters a couple of years ago, I was super proud of my degree. But before I could even celebrate all my achievements, I got slapped by the hard reality of not being a student anymore. I realised…
“Wait a minute, do I have to be a “proper adult” now or something?! But how on Earth do I do that?” No one ever told me! I spent 19 years (!!!) in the educational system, where they taught me how to research, study, and analyse books, how to write an essay, and a couple more things… but as the job interviews showed, I was pretty much the only one who believed this was useful in any way.
After months of desperation, I finally understood, that going with your head against the wall doesn’t make any sense. I abandoned the idea, that you have to be “official” and serious, that you have to “meet the profile” and I started making my own rules. I started being more authentic, using normal (actually spoken) language, stating openly, that I don’t know something, but that I do know something else instead. And guess what? It worked!
The thing is, people love meeting a real person; someone, who is not afraid of blooming just like the flower, because he or she knows, that’s what we’re here for; to be you and to be happy for it.
And so my today’s message is; stop undervaluing yourself! We’re all born hardwired for happiness and success. That’s also why we long for them so much; it’s our nature! We’re here for doing what we love, enjoy and dream about… Because that’s the only way how we put things into motion, how we inspire and truly live.
So don’t be afraid and take a leap of faith! Show the world what’s in you! You will see that it’s much easier than you thought.;-)
One last thing; here are a few handy tips for you!
Focus on the things you are good at! Develop your skills and strengths; targeting your weaknesses is just going to make you angry and frustrated and who wants that, really?
Think outside the box! Make your own rules! Persuade others that you can offer something they totally need, they just didn’t know it until now.
Imagine your best-case scenario. Applied on career (but you can use it on anything else too), ask yourself what your ideal working day would look like? What about your dream job? Write everything down and be like a child. No censoring! Do you wan to be a police officer or a princess? Go for it! You’ll see what starts happening just by allowing the possibility!
Stop resisting your dreams and passions! They are your nature. You will never get rid of them anyways! So you might as well embrace them and aspire for the best. You deserve it (you really do, darling!).
Don’t ever give up! If what you’re doing now, doesn’t work for whatever reason, try something different. Thomas Edison for example, had to make 10 000 nonfunctional bulbs before the one finally went on! And look what kind of career he made in the end!;-)
