Is it a good angle? Do I look fat? Delete that photo. OMG! - SW
By Crystal Andrus Morissette
Is that what I really look like?
Or is just the angle?
I thought my skin looked better than that?
And my waistline was smaller?
Wow… can you delete that photo?
Will you please stop taking pictures of me?
I hate being on video.
How am I going to do this TV show without losing twenty pounds first?
OMG…
In an honest moment, we all do it. At least, women do!
We see that photo of us; watch ourselves on a video, get a glance walking by a picture window and secretly (okay, maybe publicly), instantly decide to despise the image staring back at us.
It sounds awful when you put it this way, right?
Well, here’s the really big problem with this:
How on Earth are we going show up authentically, share our unique and important message, be our most joyous Self, help those who need it most; and be the Light Workers, Light Protectors, and Light Connectors we are designed to be if we have to lose weight first? Botox our wrinkles? And plump up our aging cheekbones???
How are we going to shine bright if we’re afraid to show ourselves in any light that isn’t PERFECT? SKINNY? YOUNG? How are we going to shine bright when we’re afraid to shine?
Ladies, maybe it’s time to declare a ceasefire with ourselves? Maybe it’s time to stop judging, shaming, blaming, and secretly despising our image? Maybe it’s time to just be who we are—and to love ourselves through the highs and lows, the good days and not so good, the puffy eyes, the soft tummy, the hot flashes, and comfy clothes days?
To be honest, when I was younger and pretty darn hot, I was the most insecure. Aging has actually been wonderful for my Self Esteem! I am so much more than my looks! Ugh! Thank the Lord!
Maybe its time to not worry about how our image will be perceived and instead, to pay attention to how much Self-Love we really have.
Sure, its easy to say you love yourself when you look #BAM, but can you say it when you look blah?
I invite you to join me today for our LIVE Chat with Crystal Empowered Coaching Conversation where we are talking True Self Love – the kind that transcends our beauty rather than judges, scrutinizes, and shames it.
