Featured Simply Woman Superstar - Nancy Depina Araujo, M.Ed.
By Crystal Andrus Morissette, founder of Simply Woman Magazine + The S.W.A.T. Institute
Every week, I have the honor and privilege of showcasing one of our Simply Woman Superstars! This week, I’d love to tell you about Nancy Depina Araujo, M.Ed.:
I first met Nancy about seven years ago when she registered to become a Master Empowerment Coach at the S.W.A.T. Institute. Nancy is an African-American woman from Cape Verde, Africa, who was born and raised in the heart of Boston, Massachusetts.
After losing her beloved cousin, Mikey, to gun violence, Nancy was furious and soon fell into a depression. It took some counseling and time for her to see that she could try to find the message from this mess or could be stuck in her grief forever.
It was then that Nancy turned to her African culture and her love for creative expression to help both herself and her close family members who were also in deep pain. They formed a music group called Blezzed Dez.
Together, they wrote, sang, rapped, and performed on stage about the good, the bad, and the pain of losing a loved one. They even produced their own CD. It was amazing how creative expression and the love of family helped them transform their grief into joy and power. It was then that Nancy **knew** transformation IS possible; that we can learn how to channel our fear and anger into our greatness. That’s when Nancy decided it was time to learn more about empowerment + empowerment coaching.
Although it took Nancy six years to complete the S.W.A.T. Institute’s Master Empowerment Coach Certification, while also pursuing her master’s degree in Education, she is prouder and more confident than ever before! Over the last year, Nancy and I have worked closely on her newest endeavor – Mindset Cultural Coaching and her 10-Week Course called “Guts – Grit – Glory” – and it couldn’t come at a more needed time! I completely and utterly adore and respect Nancy for creating such an important course. I highly recommend that you check it out!
www.MindsetCulturalCoaching.com and Nancy’s 10-Week Course, “Guts – Grit – Glory” is for Women of Color to come together weekly to understand the truth about your history while learning how to use your culture and creativity to transform your fears into your gifts. Women of Color need a safe place to unite, engage, educate, and become more empowered together. And Nancy has created just that: a safe and inspiring space to become your greatest Self!
Nancy Depina Araujo is also a proud wife and mother of two amazing boys. She is a multi-linguist who speaks five languages fluently and would love to support you in English, Portuguese, Spanish, French, or Cape Verdean Kriolu.
