Cancer…a word nobody wants to hear. Unfortunately, more and more people are affected by it daily.

Even though we still have no cure, we can try to do our best with the prevention methods. Great nutrition, exercise, adequate sleep and healthy lifestyle are all amazing ways to ensure that you are doing everything necessary to prevent cancer and other degenerative diseases. However, what I noticed with my clients is that too many people are unaware of the need to have the body  alkaline and the dangers of having it acidic.

Alkaline and acidic pertains to the pH level in the body.

If the pH level is below 7 it is considered acidic, above 7 is alkaline. Our pH level changes all the time based on the foods that we eat, level of stress, immune conditions, and anything else that deprives our cells of oxygen.

Without getting too technical, the pH scale runs from 0-14 and pure water is considered neutral and has a pH of 7. Foods that are below 7 are acidic and above 7 are alkaline. Our bodies should have a pH level between 7.35 and 7.45.

Alkaline foods include leafy greens, lemons, garlic, ginger, and cruciferous vegetables.

Acidic foods are all the processed foods, white flour, refined sugar, beef and soft drinks. Most of North American diet is focused on acidic food.  Now I want you to ask yourself which category your diet falls into, acidic or alkaline?

Alkaline foods help balance our pH levels and oxygenate our cells to give us more vitality. On the other hand, acidic diets will cause sluggishness and can lead to cancer. Many new findings show that cancer thrives in the acidic environment and has a difficult time surviving in an alkaline one. Healthy cells need to stay alkaline and the only way you do it is through proper nutrition.

Keep in mind whenever you eat acidic foods such as processed food or drink a soft drink our pH level plummets and it takes quite a bit of time to get it neutralized.  It balances as we drink water and/or eat alkaline foods.

My personal routine to keep my body alkaline is a shot of wheatgrass in the morning followed by a glass of warm water with a freshly squeezed lemon inside. All of this is done before breakfast since our body absorbs all the nutrients a lot easier on an empty stomach. It also helps us kick start the digestive system as well as balance our pH level.

Keep your body alkaline, eat well, exercise, get adequate sleep, lead a healthy lifestyle and you are well on your way to optimal health.

Stay healthy and happy!
