Analysis Paralysis – The Destructor of Dreams!
BLOG – November 14th – Written by Crystal Andrus
I’m sure you’ve heard the saying “Analysis Paralysis.” It’s when the fear of making a mistake, screwing up, or getting it wrong, overtakes your ability to take assertive, inspired action.
Truth be told, when we’re afraid and aren’t sure what to do, we often end up do nothing at all. Overwhelm sets in and the downward spiral overtakes us; sleepless nights, anxiety-attacks, and stress 24/7 becomes our reality.
We all know that fear is a very uncomfortable place to be. It robs us of our power. It takes us places we can’t afford to go.
If left to its own device, fear will take on a life of its own—convincing us that our future isn’t safe and our choices are extremely limited. It tells us that we’re going to fail; it won’t work out, give up, throw in the towel, and run for the hills while you still can! But we can’t give our power away to fear.
Here’s what I do when things start to go wrong and I begin to feel panicked or afraid:
- Instead of thinking about the problems I’m facing, I focus all my attention to what I want to happen instead. I get very clear about my desires and my intentions. I write them all out.
- I, then, allow myself to acknowledge and feel my anger and frustration. Suppressed anger always finds a way to be expressed, while channeled anger is jet-fuel for success!
- Next, I remind myself: “No one is coming to save you, Crystal! But the good news is that YOU can save your Self!”
- I then ask myself the most important question: “What would courage have me do?” (My spirit – my Real Self – always tells me the answer, whether I want to hear it or not!)
- It is here where the big shift occurs. I ask myself: “Am I willing to do what must be done?” (Where there is a will, there’s a way!)
The truth is, once you know, you know! And if you don’t do what you know you need to do, you’ll only create more frustration for yourself.
If you will do what must be done, the Universe will get in behind you! The Universe rewards taking inspired action! The Universe loves Courage and Willingness!
There’s a great saying that has stood the test of time for reason: “God helps those who help themselves!”
