A Confused Mind Never Buys
I recently sent out a survey to discover your top barrier or thing you most need help with.
Wow… the responses have been incredible. I wanted to share this one with you:
“This question has stirred my heart for some time.
The easy answer is I don’t have a background or experience in building a business or publishing a book (two current aspirations), but below the surface is my fear of being seen. Of rejection. Of failure.
Imposter Syndrome has been a silent ghost, haunting me for years. I read all the books and listen to all the podcasts and keep going back for more certifications with the hope that the knowledge I get will be the “thing” I am missing. That it will finally click, and I’ll be confident enough and capable and “ready.”
My husband, my biggest supporter and kindest man in the world, has lovingly reminded me that I don’t need to read another book or obtain another certification in order to be ready. And I believe him, sort of. Ok, not really.
I can support clients in my coaching practice that they already have everything they need within them but to recognize it in myself feels foreign most days. I’ve read The Alchemist over ten times, and with each reading, I mull over the quote that still resonates most deeply, “When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.”
The problem is I’ve never been clear on what that “something” truly is. So to close the circle on this long-winded response, I need help getting out of my own way, finding clarity and having the courage to take action (itsy-bitsy baby steps) in the direction of my dreams, knowing that I will fall or fail along the way but trusting the growth and who I am becoming in the process will serve my highest purpose and allow me to serve and support others.”
Wow… this woman is brilliant. She’s an incredible writer. Gifted. Talented. Just wow… and yet, like the majority of women who took the survey shared, “fear of rejection or putting ourselves out there (not feeling ready)” was her #1 reason she doesn’t go for her dreams.
It’s clearly not intelligence or passion stopping her. She’s brilliant! Instead, it’s fear of rejection!
But I’m going to assert that the reason we fear rejection is actually because we’re NOT 100% clear about what we want to put out there.
You want to help others, but how exactly? What is your THING? And are you so clear about it that no one is confused about what you do or how you do it?
Clarity is Queen
I teach my students that if you’ve ever felt lost or directionless in life, you probably know how hard it can be to make progress on anything. But when you have clarity around your goals and dreams, it’s easier to move towards what you want out of life. Clarity in business is very much the same; in fact, it’s probably the most crucial step.
Here’s the thing: when you aren’t SUPER CLEAR about who you are, what you’re offering, and the benefits to your potential clients, you won’t make money . . . even if women love your branding, your colors, your logo, etc. And worse, you’ll think it’s because you’re not good enough, which is NOT true.
The reality is a confused mind never buys.
The client has to know what to buy, sometimes even HOW to buy it, and even more importantly, WHY they should buy it from YOU!
Yes, this sounds so simple, but it’s true.
They must understand what you’re saying, what you’re asking them to buy, why you’re asking them to buy it and why they should buy it from you. This takes clarity …
It is clarity that will give you confidence!
So, this takes us to your promise. And not just the promise you’re making to your clients, BUT THE PROMISE YOU’RE MAKING TO YOURSELF about your life, dreams, desires, income, and business.
How clear are you? What are your specific business goals, and how will you attain them? Do you have a clear marketing plan? And strategy?
The great news is that clarity is a skill that can be cultivated over time. Clarity is a habit, and like any habit, it takes constant reinforcement in thought, words, and actions.
Let us help you get clearer so that fear of rejection loses its power over you.
Just like the brilliant woman above wrote:
It’s time to get out of your own way, find clarity and have the courage to take action (itsy-bitsy baby steps) in the direction of YOUR dreams!
