Beautifully Said
Fearless. Proud of who we are, where we came from, and what we have and will accomplish.
The Women’s March on Washington DC, and its sister marches around the world proved that the feminist paradigm has changed. Women, men, and countless others from the full spectrum of gender identity supported and inspired each other in peaceful unity. Faith, origin, ability, preference – these distinctions were celebrated, not threatened or shamed. It was a beautiful moment in time, and those of us lucky enough to have taken part know that it marks a leap forward in the evolution of what women have been, are, and will be in their own eyes and the world’s.
The equality that we enjoy now has been the work of centuries, and those who have brought us here should be – and are frequently honored. But the work continues. Only 15% of the most commonly quoted wisdom comes from these women. Only 15%. We know their words, and well. They have empowered us for generations.
Now is the time for new voices to be added to that cannon. Contemporary women, from all walks of life, who represent the diversity seen around the world on January 21st.
Pauline Weger and Alicia Williamson, PhD, founded Quotabelle with this goal in mind. To adding missing voices back into history and ensure that the remarkable women and girls of recent history and today are heard.
Beautifully Said is Quotabelle’s first collection of inspiring words by women that will speak to today’s feminists and their supporters.
With contributions that range from Misty Copeland to Sonia Sotomayor, Michelle Obama to Amy Poehler – and with short biographies of each woman on the facing page – reader’s will find courage from old friends, and enlightenment from new and remarkable allies.
