Your Weekly Overview June 6th – June 12th:

Have your cake…but for best results, slice it up and enjoy in portions. Responsible indulgence is the name of the game this week as decadent Venus forms a tricky square (90-degree angle) to hedonistic Jupiter. These two planets are called “benefics” because their astrological effects are primarily positive, proactive and pleasurable. So even when they clash—as they will at an exact degree on Tuesday, June 7—the effects of their complicated meetup can still be useful.

Thanks to Venus, we’ll be drawn to high beauty, art, romance and fashion. Jupiter piques our curiosity, making us want to learn, explore, and experience it all to the fullest. And now! But these lessons may come the hard way this week as we realize that Rome wasn’t built in a day…and that a 48-hour Roman orgy can come with hella consequences. Oh, the heartburn! The key to mastering a Venus-Jupiter square is to notice your desires and honor them. But instead of grasping for the shiniest object or letting FOMO take hold, sate your lust for life in a measured way. Willpower? Check.

In the words of Jupiter-ruled Sagittarius Mark Twain, “Get your facts first, then you can distort them as you please.” And that fact-finding mission could be truly entertaining since Venus is in Gemini and Jupiter in Virgo—two of the most trivia-obsessed signs in the zodiac.

On Sunday, June 12 messenger Mercury—the planet ruling both Gemini and Virgo, in fact—wraps up an extended tour through Taurus that began on April 5 and waged for two months due to a retrograde from April 28 to May 22. (Anyone else trying to forget that painful period?) Now, Mercury slides into home base, cascading through Gemini until June 29 and joining the Sun and Venus there. Being the natural ruler of Gemini, the next two-plus weeks bring a double shot of curious, communicative vibes. Come on out of those cocoons and commune with the other social butterflies. Seek kindred spirits and playmates—even if they are a tribe of fellow introverts like the ones gathered by Quiet author Susan Cain. No matter what your social style, Gemini is all about #twinning. Pair up on projects, or find a go-to buddy for festivals, beach trips, and dancing under the stars. Don’t sleep on the locals!

Mercury in Gemini heats up action close to home. Some of us could get the scene started ourselves. Both Mercury and Gemini rule the hands, so get those DIY dreams in motion. The crafters and makers will truly enjoy this tactile phase. Writers, teachers and media makers, too—sharing information and ideas is what Mercury in Gemini loves. Unfortunately, this quicksilver energy won’t give us the longest attention spans. Our interests could change daily…hourly even…so committing to our craft could take some extra discipline.

There’s also a quarter moon in Virgo on Sunday, helping us streamline, simplify and systematize. Has life gotten messy? Tap these moonbeams for a clean-up project, as Virgo is the zodiac’s efficiency expert. The devil is in the details, but so is a chorus of angels. By fine-tuning “the little things” we can take our efforts from “meh” to “magical.”

When cooking up that recipe for success, be more selective with ingredients. Are they sustainably sourced, consciously crafted, and manufactured with care and integrity? Invest a little more on quality this weekend, even if that means simplifying other aspects of the plan to keep the budget in balance. On the flip side, some of us have fallen prey to debilitating perfectionism. This quarter moon calms the obsessing and reminds us that it’s okay to make some mistakes along the way. That’s what the learning process is all about.
