We are outraged that over 270 Nigerian girls were kidnapped from their school – a place where every girl has a right to be safe.

“The world is watching Nigeria. It is a crucial time for us to support all efforts for the safe return of the kidnapped girls and to extend our support to women in other countries who are also working for peace and security in their region.” -Madonna.

Join Madonna and make a gift now to support women-led groups in Nigeria and beyond who are working to make schools safe, stop trafficking, and end child marriage.

Women and girls all over the African continent, from Nigeria to the Democratic Republic of Congo, Burkina Faso and Central African Republic, are facing sexual violence and other horrifying human rights violations.

Global Fund has been supporting this critical work for decades, but women and girls need your support now more than ever. We must protect the hard won strides made for girls’ education and safety.

Your gift today will help women and girls across Africa stand-up in the face of extremism and violence.

A local activist who asked that her identity be kept anonymous for security reasons shared her views with us after the recent kidnapping in Nigeria, “This attack has come at a very fragile time when trust for the school as a safe space for girls was just being built.” Read her story and sign a petition on our website here. >>

With your help we can continue to build trust and increase support for the rights of women and girls.

With gratitude,

Musimbi Kanyoro

P.S. Despite incredible poverty and a widespread cultural belief that girls should not go to school, girls in Nigeria get up every morning and go to where they hope will be a safe space to learn. Show them you stand with them and give now.
