5 Easy Ways to Improve Your Online Visibility
By Tani Morgan
Sharing your content online is a powerful tool for your business. It spreads the word about what you do and connects you to potential clients that otherwise may not have been able to find you. When you show up in a live video for your audience, you give them a chance to get to know you, to like you and to trust you. Being seen regularly displays your expertise and gives your soul mate clients a chance to find you and build a relationship.
And you know this, so you work hard to craft compelling content that is relevant to your audience. However, the market is full of content and you only reap these benefits if people actually see your content, right? So how do you boost your visibility and make sure your content is getting eyes on it?
Read on my friend, and follow these 5 easy tips to get your content in front of more people who need to see it.
- Publish regular blog content. This is huge because if you aren’t putting out content, it’s going to be a lot harder for people to find you. The most attractive and effective way of marketing is written content. When you write detailed, in-depth articles series that your clients need, it shows how serious you are about the topic, displays your expertise and establishes you as a credible expert. Blogs attract search engines like Google to your website and increases the likelihood that Google will include it at the top of web search results. You can increase your visibility even more with some search engine optimization (SEO). This is an excellent way to grow your visibility, audience and business without spending a ton of time on social media.
- Actively engage on your favorite social media networks. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest are massively important for sharing information and making new contacts. These platforms provide a unique opportunity to engage with your customers and potential clients from all over the world. You’ll want to create a community feel to your accounts and share interesting content, your expert tips and brand stories. Social media also allows you to engage with influencers and experts in your field so respond to their posts with thoughtful comments and over time they will start to remember you. This will increase the possibility that they may share some of your posts or work with their audience. If you are new to using social media for business, I recommend choosing one and start there, building your skills on that platform before adding in others.
- Share other people’s content. When you share content from influencers and experts, you get yourself in front of the person whose content you shared as well as in front of some of their followers. If you find an article or post that you know your audience would love, share it to give extra value to your readers without having to create your own content. Be sure to give credit to the original creator, of course. Sharing content allows you to create relationships with established leaders in your field and authentic connections to a new, larger audience while showing your community that you are knowledgeable, interesting and always expanding your expertise. As an added benefit, you’ll expand your community and network which opens up more opportunities for collaborations and guest experts speaking spots.
- Tell stories. Sharing your stories with your content is one of the most powerful techniques you have to influence, teach and inspire. They make it easier to connect with your audience and land your message because they make the information you are sharing memorable and meaningful. They also tap into our emotions and into the part of us that makes us human to build connections very quickly. As a leader, tapping into your audience’s emotions is the best way to connect with and influence them and that’s why stories are such a powerful communication tool. When you use stories in your content, your audience is more likely to remember your content and share it with a friend, family member or with their online community. You can increase the likelihood of your content being shared simply by asking your audience to share your stories with anyone who will find them useful.
- Get in front of new audiences. Honestly this is the # 1 most important thing you can do to increase your online visibility. Scan your network and look for influencers, thought leaders and experts in your field that have a larger audience than you do with ideal clients similar to your own. Reach out, build a relationship and watch for opportunities where you can be a guest expert on someone else’s blog, podcast, Facebook group or summit. Offer to showcase your expertise to their audience in exchange for the opportunity to get in front of their audience. If you don’t see opportunities, you can always create one yourself by coming up with a win-win situation for both parties.
When you boost your visibility using these 5 tips, you’ll start to notice people sharing your content, your community growing and more clients reaching out to work with you. I can’t wait to see you online!
